Date: November 19, 2020

Welcome to our monthly neighborhood newsletter! Find out about the Holiday Decorating Contest, the winners from the Halloween Contest and more...

HALLOWEEN CONTEST WINNERS

The results are in and we had three outstanding winners! The home on Phoebe Court and Luciana had some great Halloween decorations. Everyone on the block felt the spirit from that beautifully decorated home!

The next winner was “The Spider House” on Sebastian. I do not think we have ever seen a spider like that on a home! Glad it was not real!

Last but not least, was a home on Halverson where a video was created by a young very young neighbor – who is 11!. Super creative, that is for sure! Thank you one and all for submitting pictures to our Facebook site. Each recipient received a $25 gift card to Bloom Café courtesy of your Stoneridge Board Members. Until next year. WAIT! WHAT ABOUT THANKSGIVING?

Yes, Christmas is around the corner, but let us not forget about Thanksgiving! We thought a recipe would be appropriate as we are entering Thanksgiving week. The recipe below is a Borchin family favorite. Thanksgiving just wouldn’t be the same without it.

Cranberry Souffle Salad

2.5 cups orange juice

1- 16 oz can whole cranberry sauce

1 – 6oz package raspberry flavored gelatin

1.5 cups whipping cream

Orange Chunks

Sugar-coated cranberries (optional)- brush cranberries with light corn syrup and roll in sugar.

Mix 1 ¼ cups of the orange juice, cranberry sauce, and gelatin in a medium saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until the gelatin is dissolved. Stir in the remaining orange juice. Chill until mixture is partially set (consistency of unbeaten egg whites).

Beat whipping cream in a small bowl until soft peaks form. Fold into the gelatin mixture. Chill until the mixture mounds. Pour into a jell ring mold. Chill 4 – 6 hours or until firm.

To serve, unmold the salad. Fill center of the salad with orange chunks and, if desired, sugar-coated cranberries. If desired, garnish with orange leaves. Serves 8 – 10.

Note: To unmold he salad, immerse the mold into warm water for 20 to 30 seconds. Remove the large seal, turn a service place upside down and center over the mold, then invert the plate and mold together. Carefully lift off the center seal of the mold.

STONERIDGE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION - WHAT DO WE DO?

Although we like to get out in the community more, COVID has put a damper on several neighborhood meetings and gatherings. We are hopeful for a healthy 2021, and expect to re-engage with the neighborhood soon – live and in person. We normally participate in all sorts of activities like National Night Out, Downtown Tuesday Nights (summer) and other gatherings. If you would ever consider volunteering, we would love for you to join us.
